Affiliate Programs

Many of those new to the Internet are retired, and simply want to keep in touch by email with friends or family. Others however, are living on a fixed income, and are easy prey if promised a second source of earnings.

Eventually, most find their comfort level and sally forth. They are quickly  found by those wishing to separate them from their hard earned money. Suddenly, their email increases with offers for everything imaginable under the sun. Getting all this information, seems to trigger a synapse, and many view the web as their road to riches, and their greed overpowers their common sense.

In their travels about the web, they find what they think is a great program. They plop down a few bucks and start their journey into the world of online entrepreneurialism.

Three or four months go by, and they haven't done anything except fill the coffers of their sponsors. Wondering how those experts can claim five figure monthly incomes from their Internet businesses, while they aren't earning squat, they cast about looking for something else.

What they don't realize is that they can't be playing golf or lying on the couch "guzzling beer all day,” expecting the world to beat a path to their door. As with all businesses, online or off, it takes more than a casual approach to truly make a business work.

Many beginning opportunity seekers are misled by the hoopla and marketing pitches.  If anyone is trying to start a business on the Internet, they must approach it as a real business.

The number one priority is to get your own web site, and you should avoid the free ones offered by your ISP. The price of web space today is extremely affordable, and you can get a full blown site, including the registration of your own domain name for about $4 a month. There are also tools available to help put together your own site, and with a little experimentation, you can have your site up and running quickly.

Build your web site based on your interests, and over the long term it will be much more successful. It should be filled with useful information and resources. Look for others in your field to work with you in exchange for exposure. Keep the content constantly updated, which will encourage repeat visits.

Build a mailing list by having your guests register at the site. This mailing list is a valuable marketing tool, but your efforts here should be low key. It could take the form of a newsletter geared toward your target market, and include a column that you write - you can have your ad in the newsletter, but don’t make it a thinly disguised pitch for your product or service. Give good solid information, which will be useful to your readers.

If you are going to be involved with an Affiliate Program, be careful with your selection. Look for programs that pay well, and have a solid reputation. Most importantly, pick one that you believe in, and one that you use their products or services yourself.

Don't use their affiliate links as your primary web presence. Your web site will never get listed in search engine directories, such as Google. While the sites supplied by the affiliate program are well designed, many are basically “Smoke and Mirrors,” aimed at making their affiliates feel they have joined the "big time".

The prospects of getting visitors to it are slim, unless it is a direct result of your marketing efforts. With your own site however, and with a strong informational approach, you stand a good chance of getting a decent ranking with the search engines. Once at your site, you can have a link taking them to your affiliate site.

A well thought out approach will help insulate you from those who are not reputable. It will also provide what is necessary for achieving long term success utilizing affiliate programs.

In The News

iTunes In Trouble In Europe

Government regulators in several European countries are taking Apple to court over the way its iTunes music service functions. Norwegian officials have said that Apple's user agreement violates the country's law and that the inability to play iTunes songs on non-Apple devices likely also is illegal in Norway.

Specifically at issue are parts of Apple's user agreement that give the company the right to change the terms without notice and that free Apple from any liability for viruses or other harm caused by iTunes downloads. Bjorn Erik Thon, director of the Consumer Ombudsman's Office of Norway, said his office would hear Apple's counterargument concerning whether iTunes songs should be playable on non-Apple equipment, but he added that he expects the office to rule against Apple. Thon rejected an earlier claim by Apple that limiting the songs to Apple devices discourages copyright violations. If consumers cannot play songs they have bought, said Thon, "they will get a download of it free from Napster," increasing piracy.

Government officials in Sweden and Denmark are expected to follow Norway's lead in these affairs, and Britain reportedly also shares the same concerns.

Generating Real Residual Income

We've all heard it before, "buy this package now and I promise you'll become rich overnight." The following statement is just not true and there is no real "Holy Grail" on the Internet.  Many people feel as though the dot com boom has come and gone and I am here to tell you that those people are wrong.

I am not here to tell you what to get involved in or how to spend your money, rather to inform you on how to create multiple streams of income that can provide for making a living on the Internet.  The problem is everyone that looks for these types of home based businesses are looking for the easy way out.  They are looking for programs that will make them rich overnight and a millionaire in a year.

Being a home business owner and having nothing more than a few hundred dollars when I first began looking for home based business opportunities I can tell you that it’s work.  The major reason 99% of the people who whish to start a home business fail is that they have no business plan.  People tend to become very excited when they hear of a new money making opportunity and jump the gun before they realize what they are getting into.  Lets be real here, an online business is a commitment and it is a job.  If there is no consistency in the program you chose, you are destined for failure.

The first program I looked into was e-currency trading.  I had no idea what this program was or if it actually worked.  I had $100 to my name from selling my guitar and decided to invest that into e-currency trading.  The program provided to be a money making machine and what was once $100 was now $5,000 in just 3 months.  I thought to myself, this is great but why stop here?

Through e-currency trading I met some very wealthy people and I thought the best thing to do was to stay in touch with them and find out how they were generating money or how they had started initially.  Eventually my contacts in e-currency trading lead to a few very reliable wealthy friends who pointed me towards other opportunities and private investments that area still generating money to this day.  Before I knew it I had income coming in from e-currency, private investments, stocks and other business programs.

The key to generating unlimited amounts of money in my experiences is to network with people that are already wealthy and do what they are doing.  You don't need large amounts of money to become a wealthy person.  The only thing you need is consistency and a strong business plan.

The Post Office

A woman went to the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards.

"What denomination?" asked the clerk.

"Oh, good heavens! Have we come to this?" said the woman. "Well, give me 50 Catholic and 50 Baptist ones."

The teacher told him that the proportions in the painting were incorrect.

"The head is too big," the professor explained. "The shoulders are too wide, and the feet are enormous."

The next day, the art student brought Peter to see the professor. He took one look at my brother. "Okay, A minus," he said.
