                       Tip of the Day

Caps Lock Errors

If you're like me, you hit the CapsLock key every so often by
mistake, when intending to hit the "a" key. Before you know it,
you have typed a few sentences that have to be deleted and
reentered.

The Windows ToggleKeys feature on your PC however, can emit a
sound every time you press the CapsLock key. This will alert you
that you have turned the CapsLock on.

To enable ToggleKeys, open the Control Panel (click on Start,
Settings, then Control Panel) and double-click on Accessibility
Options. From the Keyboard tab, click on Use ToggleKeys.

Now, anytime you press the CapsLock, ScrollLock or NumLock key,
you will hear a short beep. A high-pitched beep means you just
turned CapsLock on. A medium-pitched beep means you just turned
it off.

                       This Day in History

On this day in 1955, "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock,"
re-released after the debut of the movie Blackboard Jungle,
entered the Billboard charts and started climbing. By July, it
had become No. 1 in the United States, and by the end of the year
it had topped the English charts as well.

The song, by Bill Haley and the Comets, became one of the most
influential in history, popularizing the rock and roll form that
had started percolating years before, but hadn't gained a wide
audience among mainstream America. The record sold an estimated
six million copies by the end of the year, and an estimated 22
million copies by the time Haley died in 1981.

Evolving E-Books Let Authors Answer Critics

Princeton University has launched a new e-book program, Princeton
Digital Books Plus, that treats books as dynamic, rather than
static, objects. Under the program, each e-book author will be
able to participate in an online discussion following the release
of his or her e-book. The author's reply to issues raised in
that discussion will be included in future editions of the book.

"Republic.com" by University of Chicago professor Cass Sunstein
is the first e-book to be published under the arrangement, which
will include forum discussions on the news site Salon.com and on
the Princeton Digital Books Plus site. Sunstein's reply will be
available for download from Amazon.com for free and will be
included in the book's paperback edition.

Princeton plans to release a second e-book, "Breaking the
Deadlock: The Supreme Court and Election 2000" by University of
Chicago professor Richard Posner, on Jun. 15.

Adolescent Girls More Likely To Be Depressed

"Prior to puberty, males and females are equally effected by
Major Depressive Disorder. After puberty, the disease is twice as
common in females as it is in males. The most common age group is

CHOSEN CAREER
-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The school of agriculture's dean of admissions was interviewing a
prospective student, "Why have you chosen this career?" he asked.

"I dream of making a million dollars in farming, like my father,"
the student replied.

"Your father made a million dollars in farming?" echoed the dean
much impressed.

"No," replied the applicant. "But he always dreamed of it."

                        Recipe of the Week
                          by Susan Kemp

Baked Taco Dip

This is a great dip for outside BBQs!  Or if love Mexican food as
much as I do - you'll enjoy it all year round.

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (lean)
1 can refried beans
2 pkgs. of you favorite Taco seasoning (dry)
1 15 1/2 oz can tomato sauce
6 chopped green onions
1 chopped and seeded Jalapeno pepper
1 8 oz sour cream
8 oz shredded cheddar or Co-Jack cheese

Directions:

Brown beef with the onions and Jalapeno pepper. Drain well. Add
beans, taco seasoning, and the tomato sauce. Mix well and spread
in a 9"x13" baking dish. Spread with sour cream and then top with
the shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until hot and cheese has
melted. Enjoy with tortilla chips - or your favorite taco dipping
chips.

Serving Suggestions:

When done you can also serve sides of chopped tomato, shredded
lettuce, and black olives.
