Viewing Offline Pages
This is a great tip for dial-up users. You can browse the Web
without actually being connected to the Internet.1. From Internet Explorer, choose File, Work Offline.
2. Click on previously visited sites within Internet Explorer.
You can do this by clicking on the downward-pointing arrow in
the address bar, clicking on the History button, or choosing
Favorites from the Internet Explorer menu and clicking on any
highlighted link.3. Although you're not connected to the Internet when reading
offline pages, you can connect whenever necessary. Browse the
page as if you were really online. When you click on something
that Internet Explorer hasn't downloaded, it fires off a box
asking if you want to connect. Click on the Connect button,
and Internet Explorer reconnects to the Internet and locates
the new item you have chosen.Bob

Feedback
Hi Bob - do Solo Ads require 5 to 7 exposures to get substantive
results?I have a customer who has paid for 1 Solo Ad in my ezine and
wants to see the response it gets before paying for any more. Please share your wisdom with me, thanks
Rae - thebaumgroup@prodigy.net
-----
I don't think so. Solo Ads work best when combined with regular,
ongoing ads in your pub. If it is done like this, you can expect
good results from the first ad.Bob

_________________________________________________________________Today in History
On this day in 1948, horror spoof Abbott and Costello Meet
Frankenstein opened. The movie was a hit and reestablished Abbott
and Costello as major stars.Bud Abbott and Lou Costello teamed up in the early 1930s to form
a vaudeville comedy act. Born in 1895, Abbott grew up in a family
of circus performers. Costello, born in 1906 in Patterson, New
Jersey, tried to break into the movies in his late teens but
failed and tried vaudeville instead.Like Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello used their physical
differences to great comic effect. Tall, skinny Abbott played
straight man to short, chubby Costello. The team soon became one
of vaudeville's most successful acts. In 1938, they became
regulars on Kate Smith's popular radio show, and two years later
they launched their own radio program, where they perfected their
famous "Who's on First" routine. The show ran until 1949.They made their first film in 1940, One Night in the Tropics,
followed by the hit Buck Privates (1941), which earned some $10
million. In 1945, they debuted the "Who's on First" routine on
film, in The Naughty Nineties. The pair made more than 30 fil ms
together.Although their slapstick humor threatened to wear thin after
their first few years of movie-making, the team established
themselves as an enduring draw at the box office with the debut
of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. The movie was both a
financial hit and a critical success in its zany spoofing of
popular Hollywood horror movies. The film featured Bela Lugosi as
Dracula. The duo made several more horror spoofs, including Abbott and
Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953) and Abbott and
Costello Meet the Mummy (1955). The team split up in 1956, and
Costello made one movie without Abbott before he died in 1959,
just three days shy of his 53rd birthday. Abbott lived until 1974
but died penniless after an eight-year battle with the IRS over
back taxes.________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________Food for Thought by Dr. Kevin Nunley
Writing is linear in its logic (as scientists say). When you
write, your ideas must march along one after another without
doubling back. This may not be the most comfortable way to
communicate, but writing makes people organize their ideas and
get to the point. This very simple difference between talking
and writing may be at the root of why so many businesses find
they make their real sales from email and not from the
telephone."See Kevin's 10,000 free marketing ideas at http://DrNunley.com

Fashion in the U.S. during the late 1950s had interesting

front zippers for women were considered "naughty."________________________________________________________________
Technology News
RIAA Subpoenas Grandparents, Roommates
Subpoenas recently sent by the Recording Industry of America
(RIAA) have cut a wide swath, targeting roommates and relatives
in an effort to stop illegal file sharing. Those engaged in file-
sharing who thought their identities were masked behind a user
name are finding that the RIAA can track down the computers they
are using.Roommates, parents, or other relatives who might have been
oblivious to the fact that their computers were being used for
illegal file trading are now receiving subpoenas to halt such
use. Gordon Pate, who received a subpoena on his daughter's
behalf, said, "There's no way either us or our daughter would do
anything we knew to be illegal. I don't think anybody knew this
was illegal, just a way to get some music."Christopher Caldwell, a lawyer for the Motion Picture Association
of America, thinks the RIAA's strategy might backfire. He said,
"If they end up picking on individuals who are perceived to be
grandmothers or junior high students who have only downloaded in
isolated incidents, they run the risk of a backlash."________________________________________________________________

Hate To Burst Your Bubble: Identifying 6 Common Internet Scams
by Anna-Marie Stewart VentonIf you’ve been online for more than a week, you’ve probably
already seen them. Ads that promise great wealth, in little or no
time, for little or no work on your behalf. They then go on to
tell you how simple and easy it is to work from home, being your
own boss and setting your own hours.Sounds great, doesn’t it? But is it actually true? Ok, so you get
to decide your work hours, but let me tell you, there’s a LOT of
hours involved here, and a LOT of hard work, and even then, you
may not succeed in making enough money to quit your day job. There are tons of business opportunities out there to get
involved with. Here’s a list of some of them, with their "TRUE"
colors. I’m NOT saying every individual opportunity IS a scam,
but a lot of them are, and you need to do your homework before
you embark on the journey as an "internet marketer".MLMs:
Promise: You make money from sales, be it services or products.
You recruit other sales people, and earn from their sales.
Fact: Most of the time, you’ll find that the people you’re trying
to sell to are other distributors, and you’re all trying to sell
to each other, which ultimately means no sales.Holidays and Travels:
Promise: You get dirt-cheap or even free tickets, with tons of
extras. Fact: You could end up with no trip, or with a trip of a
much lesser quality of services and accommodation than promised.
Sometimes there are hidden charges and costs that you don’t find
out about until you’ve paid.Credit Cards:
Promise: Give us your credit card number, we need it to verify
that you are over 18, then we can give you X, Y, and Z for free.
Fact: There are a lot of these that will run up charges on your
credit cardsHealth Care:
Promise: Our products can cure serious, or even fatal, health
problems.
Fact: A lot of people will believe this one, without checking it
out thoroughly. This can result in people not getting the
necessary treatment they really need for their illness.Investments:
Promise: Make a huge return on your investments with us, and make
it FAST!
Fact: A big profit always carries a big risk, which mostly means
you stand to lose your investment.Chain Letters:
Promise: Pass this on and you’ll earn a truckload of money.
Fact: Chain letters involving money and/or valuables are illegal!
Even the ones that tell you they’re legal and endorsed by the
government. By starting, or passing these on, you are, in effect,
breaking the law. While a lot of programs truly ARE legitimate, there’s thousands
more that aren’t. There are certain questions you need to ask the
promoter of any program/opportunity/offer before you make your
decisions.1. What is the FULL outlay expected of me for membership fees,
equipment and supplies?
2. What will I get for my money?
3. What exactly do I have to do (step by step)?
4. Will I be paid a regular wage, or will my pay be based on
commission?
5. Who will be paying me?Take your time. People promoting scams will likely use high-
pressure sales tactics to get you to buy in to them. If the
business opportunity is legitimate, it'll still be around when
you're ready to decide.-----

Marriage Proposal
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=An extremely wealthy 65-year-old man falls in love with a young
woman in her twenties and is contemplating a proposal."Do you think she'd marry me if I tell her I'm 45?" he asked a
friend."Your chances are better," said the friend, "if you tell her
you're 90."-----
A girl went over to her friend and said, "I hear you broke off
your engagement to Bob. Why?""It's just that my feelings towards him aren't the same any
more.""Are you returning his diamond ring?"
"No way! My feelings towards the ring haven't changed a bit!"
-----
Three Big Bad Bikers went into a roadside Truck Stop and went up
to an older gentleman at the counter who was having his
breakfast. The first biker took out his cigar and dropped it into the man's
coffee. He didn't say a word and resumed eating his breakfast. The second biker tipped over his glass of orange juice. Still no
reaction. The third ugly guy dumped the guy's plate of bacon and eggs on
the floor. The little old man got up without saying a word, paid
his bill and left the cafe."He wasn't much of a man was he?" questioned the leader of the
pack."No," said the waitress, "and not much of a truck driver either.
He just ran over three Harleys in the parking lot."-----
During World War II Richard Wynn, on flight duty with the 8th Air
Force Division in Europe was shot down and captured by the
Germans. After a year as prisoner of war, he escaped and made his
way back to his bomber group in England. One of his first acts
there was to hunt up the corporal on duty in the parachute
building."Corporal," he said, "a year ago I had occasion to use one of the
parachutes that your men had packed and I want you to know how
delighted I was to find it in perfect working order. I give you
my deepest compliments and appreciation.""You know, Lieutenant, funny thing," the corporal replied. "In
this work we never get any complaints."-----
If men are so competent, how come you always see signs reading
"DANGER - MEN WORKING" ?.________________________________________________________________
