Cancel MySpace
With MySpace, you either love it or hate it. So, for all you out there who love it, just proceed to the next section of the Newsletter. a If you hate it however, you have a profile set up on MySpace that must be removed, and you can easily do it in just a few steps.
Start by going to www.myspace.com and log in to your account. Make sure you're on your personal homepage (click on the Home link if you need to). Next, click on the Account Settings link, which is located right next to your picture on the left hand side of the page and then choose Cancel Account. Hit the Cancel My Account button and your profile will be permanently deleted.
Now, when you do this, keep in mind that you can never get your profile back. All of the information, the pictures, your comments, messages, journals, etc. will be completely removed from the MySpace Web site. All your friends will be lost too, so if you want to keep in touch with any of them, make sure you talk to them before you cancel your account. None of the information can ever be restored. You can create another profile at another time if you wish, but just remember, it won't be the same as it was before. Just make sure you really want to cancel it before you hit that button!

Today's Highlight in History
Illinois becomes the 21st state
On this day in 1818, Illinois achieved full statehood. Though Illinois presented unique challenges to immigrants unaccustomed to the soil and vegetation of the area, it grew to become a bustling and densely populated state.
The strange but beautiful prairie lands east of the Mississippi and north of Lake Michigan presented a difficult challenge to the tide of westward-moving immigrants. Accustomed to the heavily forested lands of states like Kentucky and Tennessee, the early immigrants to Illinois did not know what to make of the vast treeless stretches of the prairie. Most pioneers believed that the fertility of soil revealed itself by the abundance of vegetation it supported, so they assumed that the lack of trees on the prairie signaled inferior farmland. Those brave souls who did try to farm the prairie found that their flimsy plows were inadequate to cut through prairie sod thickly knotted with deep roots. In an "age of wood," farmers also felt helpless without ready access to the trees they needed for their tools, homes, furniture, fences, and fuel. For all these reasons, most of the early Illinois settlers remained in the southern part of the state, where they built homes and farms near the trees that grew along the many creek and river bottoms.
The challenge of the prairies slowed emigration into the region; when Illinois was granted statehood in 1818, the population was only about 35,000, and most of the prairie was still largely unsettled. Gradually, though, a few tough Illinois farmers took on the difficult task of plowing the prairie and discovered that the soil was far richer than they had expected. The development of heavy prairie plows and improved access to wood and other supplies through new shipping routes encouraged even more farmers to head out into the vast northern prairie lands of Illinois.
By 1840, the center of population in Illinois had shifted decisively to the north, and the once insignificant hamlet of Chicago rapidly became a bustling city. The four giant prairie counties of northern Illinois, which were the last to be settled, boasted population densities of 18 people per square mile. Increasingly recognized as one of the nation's most fertile agricultural areas, the vast emptiness of the Illinois prairie was eagerly conquered by both pioneers and plows.

Hi Bob,
I just enjoyed another interesting issue of your
tip of the day publication. Thank you, for a job well done. I've been subscribed
to you for years and never disappointed.
I noticed that you accept articles and wondered
if I may please, include your publication on http://targeted-article.com,
only to accept articles in the categories that you choose?
Of course you would have no commitment to publishing
the articles, they are submitted for your consideration.
Thank you for your time in considering my request,
I look forward to your reply. I'm always right here if I can be of service

Woman in Business
YOU'VE GOT MAIL
by debbie solomon
You've got mail is music to my ears every time I come online. This means my business is really going some where. I open my mailbox and there are about 70 Offers along with my regular mail, which many call SPAM. Now, I have my own business and I am not looking for a joint venture at this time, however, I am not so quick to get in an uproar over the situation.
The reason I mention these famous offers and as some call SPAM, is because it causes so much friction between businesses. NO matter what you do or say you will always receive these emails. You can report 50 people a day, they will not stop. And I can see it happening, you get stressed out, frustrated over these spams. It basically takes up half your day fretting about it. And quite honestly it takes away from you work.
The question is: What are you going to do about it? The answer is SIMPLE. NOTHING.
And this is why: As Business Entrepreneurs we all have one thing in common. Success and making a living. When you get these emails and you take valuable time and energy to email them, tell them off, yell at them, curse at them and threaten them. Well guess what? You are killing your business. You must think ahead from a professional state of mind. ONE DAY, you just may need some of these people.
Some may end up being prospects, but once you start ranting and raving about the spamming, you Kill every chance you have in ever gaining professional respect and possible future clients. They will remember you. And NOT as a nice business person. So, bear in mind if you are one of those people who send off those nasty emails, give it a second thought. It is all part of networking.
To be completely honest, when I get online and I see these offers, I scam through them quickly. And then delete them. Sometimes I am just not in the mood to even look at them. And hitting the DELETE button is just so easy. It is not stressful or frustrating. My day goes so much smoother when I don't concern myself with some people who spam me. It is not worth the aggravation.
I am writing this article because in plain truth,
this is a large part of all our businesses, and we must take into account
the circumstances that many may inherit once they start going on a spamming
rampage. Take all the factors into consideration before you jump the gun
and send nasty emails. Is this worth the aggravation that you will indeed
endow? Or is it easier to just send an email and say thank you but no thank
you?
Or just hit the DELETE button?
OR, what about sending them YOUR offer?
If we all really want to remain on a professional level, we must not bother ourselves with spam. It is part of being in business, and it will not end, no matter how nasty you are to these people. In fact, maybe we should all prospect our spammers and possibly build a business relationship. A spammer is a client, because they are coming to you with business offers and opportunities, just return the favor and you just may increase your business even more. So take what could be a bad experience and reverse it into a professional business prospect.

As the lone female in our house, I find that certain male habits have really begun to get on my nerves. One day, I emerged from the bathroom completely exasperated when I bumped into my husband.
"What is it with guys that they won't replace the toilet paper?!" I raged.
"I know," he said, nodding in agreement. "I noticed that when I was in there earlier."

An English teacher at Iowa State University spent a lot of time marking grammatical errors in her students' written work. She wasn't sure how much impact she was having until one overly busy day when she sat at her desk rubbing her temples.A student asked,
"What's the matter, Mrs. Sheridan?"
"Tense," she replied, describing her emotional state.
After a slight pause the student tried again,
"What was the matter? What has been the matter?
What might have been the matter... ?"

Riddle
What nursery rhyme is this?
A human female, extremely captious and given to opposed behavior, was questioned as to the dynamic state of her cultivated tract of land used for the production of various types of flora. The tract components were enumerated as argentous tone-producing agents, a rare species of oceanic growth, and pulchritudinous young females situated in a linear orientation.
Do you know the answer? If not, look for the solution later in this newsletter.

"Cooking for the Empty Nest"
Recipe of the Week
by Susan Kemp
Butterfinger cookies
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups Butterfinger BB´s candies (about
five 1.7-ounce
packages)
Using electric mixer, beat butter and both sugars in large bowl until well blended. Add egg and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Beat in flour, salt and baking soda. Stir in Butterfinger BB´s (dough will be moist). Chill cookie dough at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Using 1 rounded tablespoon dough for each cookie, drop cookie dough in mounds onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 3 inches apart (about 8 cookies per sheet; cookies will spread). Bake cookies until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Transfer parchment with cookies to rack and cool completely. Makes about 24 cookies
