Alarms
Ever since we ran the "Fatfingeritis" article last week, everyone has been asking me if there's an alarm option for other keys on the keyboard. You know, certain keys that you accidentally hit all the time, such as the Caps Lock key, Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys. Well, it just so happens there is!
First, go to Start, Control Panel and click on the Accessibility Options link. Click Accessibility Options once more and then choose the Keyboard tab. Under the ToggleKeys section, checkmark the box that says "Use ToggleKeys" and then click OK. That little check then activates the beeping sound and you will hear that every time you hit any of those keys. Once you hear that beep, you'll know one of those keys was hit and you can then go and undo it.
Now, you can have your screen flash at you when one of those keys is hit as well. To do that, go back to the Accessibility Options window, but choose the Sound tab this time. Check the box next to "Use SoundSentry" and choose which way you would like to be warned from the drop down menu. I personally like the "Flash active window" option, but choose one that will get your attention the best. Click OK when you're done and you'll be all set. Never again will you have to worry about not knowing when those keys are accidentally turned on and that's a big time saver for everyone!

Today's Highlight in History
Mississippi River reaches peak flood level
On this date in 1973, the Mississippi River reached its peak level in St. Louis during a record 77-day flood. During the extended flood, 33 people died and more than $1 billion in damages were incurred.
The roots of the 1973 flood go back to October 1972, when above-average rain began falling in the river basins that feed the Mississippi River. With more precipitation than normal coming down through the winter, the stage was set for flooding when hard rain came down in March. With most of the Midwest already saturated, the Mississippi began rising slowly to flood levels.
By the middle of March, flood waters began inundating some communities along the Mississippi. The worst of it came in early April when 6 million acres south of St. Louis, Missouri, were claimed by the river and many levees crumbled and failed.
As they moved downstream, the rising waters threatened the city of New Orleans. Officials decided to divert some of the water to Lake Ponchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico. This ended the threat to New Orleans, but came at the expense of hundreds of farms in the area. In some areas, the floods continued until June.
Floods of this type are not typically as deadly as flash floods because there is sufficient warning and time to evacuate flood regions. Those who died in this instance were largely residents who had resisted evacuation orders. Still, the flood devastated the economy of the region, as very few families had flood insurance and millions of acres of farm land were unusable for a full year following the flood.

Avoiding Pathetic Traffic Syndrome in Three Steps
If you have started blogging it is quite easy to see minimal traffic for the first few months while you build a reputation for yourself. It is during this time that most bloggers drop out of the game leaving a dead relic of a blog hanging out on the web all by its lonesome. So how can you spare yourself from seeing only trickle traffic to your blog? The steps are easier than you think in fact we can solve this in three steps.
The first technique and the most potent is simply to produce fresh articles and blog content every day. Writing articles will allow you to gain links and traffic from the search engines and posting regularly can. The continual flow of traffic will occur after you write many articles so do not expect hundreds of visitors after one article it just isn't that easy. Although this will take time have faith that the more writing you do the easier it will become. Once you submit you may be pleasantly surprised to notice traffic spikes as ezine editors distribute the articles to their lists.
The second piece of the pie is blog commenting on related blogs. What good can come from a comment you say? Think referrals my friend, in fact sites that have a high page rank typically have a high visitor count. The visitors read your well written comment and check out your site to see what else you have to say. It is a positive relationship in that the better the comments the better the traffic will be. The other bonus here is that many sites will allow a track back so that your blog earns visitors and back links all in one step. Comment regularly and avoid spam and enjoy the dual benefit your blog will reap from repeating this step.
The third component of this visitor producing discussion is joining blog carnivals in the form of submission and hosting. One of the most well known blog carnival sites is hosted by Google and they make it extremely easy to use. Now there are dual benefits built into this procedure, hose benefits are building links and traffic at the same time. It is just as easy to host a blog carnival as it is to submit to one as you will be provided with cut and paste coding to use in your site. Once the edition is up and running on your site you simply ping Google and voila additional referral traffic just for hosting!
Use each of these steps every day and puny traffic will be a thing of the past. Make each of these procedures part of your daily routine by setting aside a block of time in your schedule religiously. Remain vigilant and your site will quickly climb the page ranks.

Kittens
=-=-=-=-=
Little Suzy had a box of very small kittens that she was trying to give away, so she placed them out on the street corner with a sign "FREE KITTENS" next to them.
Suddenly a big line of big black cars came up the street with several policemen on motorcycles in front. The cars all stopped and a tall man, with big ears, stepped out of the largest car, a Mercedes limousine
"Hi, little girl, what do you have there in the box?" he asked.
"Kittens !" Little Suzy says. "They're so small, their eyes are not even open yet."
"What kind of kittens are they?" he asked.
"Democrats" says Little Suzy.
The tall man, who was none other than Sen. Obama, smiled and returned to his car and they all drove away. Sensing a good photo opportunity, Sen. Obama called his campaign manager and told him about the little girl and the kittens.
Together, they planned that they would return the next day, have all the media there and tell everyone all over America about these great little kittens.
The next day, Little Suzy is back --standing on the corner with her box of kittens with the "FREE KITTENS" sign on it and, again, the big motorcade of black cars pulled up, this time with all the vans and trucks from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and five New York Times reporters Everyone had their cameras ready and then, Sen. Obama got out of his limo and walked up to Little Suzy.
"Now, little girl, don't be frightened," he said, "I only want you to tell all these nice news people just what kind of kittens you're giving away today."
"Yes sir, "Suzy said, "they're REPUBLICAN kittens."
Taken by complete surprise, Sen. Obama said, "But yesterday, you told me that they were DEMOCRATS."
Little Suzy says, "Yes, Sir, I know. But today, they have their eyes open."

A mother looked out a window and saw Johnny playing church with their three kittens. He had them lined up and was preaching to them. The mother turned around to do some work.
A while later she heard meowing and scratching on the door. She went to the window and saw Johnny baptizing the kittens. She opened the window and said, "Johnny, stop that! You'll drown those kittens."
Johnny looked at her and said with much conviction in his voice: "They should had thought of that before they joined my church."

One day a cat dies of natural causes and goes to Heaven. There he meets the Lord himself. The Lord says to the cat, "You lived a good life and if there is any way I can make your stay in Heaven more comfortable, please let Me know."
The cat thinks for a moment and says, "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor." The Lord stops the cat and says, "Say no more," and a wonderful fluffy pillow appears.
A few days later six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident and go to Heaven. Again the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer. The mice answer, "All of our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. Running, running, running; we're tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so we don't have to run anymore?" The Lord says, "Say no more," and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates.
About a week later the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him in a deep sleep on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you arrived?"
The cat stretches and yawns and replies, "It is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those Meals on Wheels you've been sending by are theeeeeeee best!!!"
