Tip of the Day

Snap To

Any time you change a setting on your PC, you have to press OK for it to take effect, right? Isn't it a little repetitive to have to press that button every single time? How would you like your mouse to automatically do it for you?

Well, it's possible and here's how. You just have to enable the "snap to" feature for your mouse. To use Snap To to reduce pointer movements.

Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Mouse.  On the Pointer Options tab, under Snap To, select Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box.

If you turn on Snap To, the mouse pointer automatically moves over the default button (such as OK or Apply) when you open a dialog box.

Today's Highlight in History

Trains collide in Pakistan

A passenger train collided with an oil-tanker train in the Gambar province of western Pakistan, killing 300 people and seriously injuring another 150 on this day in 1957.

The passenger train, bound for Karachi from western Pakistan, was overcrowded, which was not unusual at the time. However, the number of people on board did not cause this tragic accident, it only increased the casualties. The accident was the result of poor routing and a lack of signals on the tracks in the area.

A cargo train carrying oil was stationary on the tracks near Montgomery. When the passenger train was mistakenly sent down the same rails, the engineer had no idea of the impending disaster since it was night and there were no signals to warn him of the oil train’s location. The passenger train was going full speed when it slammed into the back of the other train at just before midnight.

The collision set off a tremendous explosion, endangering those who had not been killed immediately. Rescue efforts and the search for bodies went on through the night and the entire next day. Bodies were recovered hundreds of feet away from the crash site.

Trivia

The smallest of American owls, the elf owl, often nests in the
Gila woodpecker’s cactus hole after the woodpecker leaves. The
owl measures barely 6 inches tall. It specializes in catching
scorpions, seizing each by the tail and nipping off its stinger.
It then swallows the scorpion’s body, pincers and all.

Information Products for Dummies by Sarah Paine

A recent trip to the book store opened my eyes vastly in terms of product creation. Any one who has been to a book store knows about the Dummies series. It seems almost like a dumb idea in itself really, teach people some fairly simple things they should already know. However, we take for granted that everyone already knows what we do.Each person contains pockets of information that others would love to have.

When it comes to the internet you have to think that many people do not even know how to use their computers to begin with. I know it sounds crazy but flick on a tv and you will see the video professor dvd products designed to help the computer illiterate get online or type papers. The Dummies series has mastered this art in that it has honed down just about everything you would like to know and compressed the information in a user friendly book.

James Brausch recommends you created a DVD in order to do something very similar. Even better than a book, a DVD can show you exactly what you need to do in order to perform a certain task. What you really need to do is stop and take a look at what your pockets of information are. Can you provides tips and tricks in web hosting, article writing, traffic building, seo? If you are not an internet marketer maybe you have tips and tricks related to weight loss, healthy living, automotive repair, or just about anyting else.

There is no reason why you can not set up your own website and create your own Dummies series. In fact if you do not know how to set up a site or create a product page there are others that have created dummy type products to help you! My first product was one such item that shows site owners how to host blog carnivals to increase their traffic.

Get start today and you could have your own site and products tomorrow. If for some reason you have never run across the for Dummies series do a Google search and you will be amazed at how many topics come up. What does that mean to you? It means you have an endless array of possible product ideas. Good luck.

A Little Humor to Start the Week

Long Line
=-=-=-=-=-=

There she stood in the line at the post office, a line that wound its way almost out the front door.

A fellow customer spoke to the elderly lady waiting to buy some stamps. "Ma'am, you must be very tired. Did you know there's a stamp machine over there in the corner?" He pointed to the machine built into the wall.

"Why yes, thank you," the lady replied, "but I'll just wait here a little while longer. I'm getting close to the window."

The customer became insistent. "But it would be so much easier for you to avoid this long line and buy your stamps from the machine."

The woman patted him on the arm and answered, "Oh, I know. But that old machine would never ask me how my grandchildren are doing."

I stopped at the local Burger King for a cold soda and was reading the menu over the counter. I noticed a sign to the side that stated "Picture Menu Available".

I had to ask the clerk what it was for and she told me that they had a number of customers who couldn't read and they used that. Of course I asked how such a customer would know this picture menu was available and her answer was the classic,

"Well, it says so on the sign, doesn't it?"

An English teacher at Michigan State University spent a lot of time marking grammatical errors on her students' written work. She wasn't sure how much impact she was having until one overly busy day when she sat at her desk rubbing her temples.

A student asked, "What's the matter, Mrs. Sheridan?"

"Tense," she replied, describing her emotional state.

After a slight pause the student tried again ... "What was the matter? What has been the matter? What might have been the matter? ... ???"

-----

A Sunday school teacher said to her children, "We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a higher power. Can anybody tell me what it is?"

One child blurted out, "Aces!"
