Free Music
If you're like me, you like to listen to music, but really hate all the ads and "jibber jabber" that the station feels compelled to inundate you with. You most likely already have speakers on your computer, and if you are into games, might even have a large woofer (for the base sounds) as well. Under any circumstances you can most likely find a quality set including the woofer for around 50 bucks. What a great gift idea, that the whole family can enjoy.
I found two "stations" online that let you play their music without any charge or interuptions whatsoever. one is called Pandora and is available at http://www.pandora.com/ and the other is called The Radio and is available at http://theradio.com/ Both statations allow you to play a wide range of music, either by artist type or genre of the music, and I like both of them. Both have their good points and both have some not so good points. I can't recommend one over the other, but Pandora does have a feature that I especially like which is called "QuickMix." It allows you to create a "station" and put only the "type" of music in it that you like. It will play different songs from different types of music and continually alternate them.
I don't like listening to the same type of music all the time and sometimes listen to "Motown" mixed with "Doo-Wop" and other times might like "Folk" and "Country". This time of year, I can also pick a style of Christmas music I like to add to the mix. You are allowed to have as many types of music you wish in the mix. And best of all there are no downloads so you don't have to worry about viruses.

The United States declares war on Japan
On this day in 1941, as America's Pacific fleet lay in ruins at Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt requests, and receives, a declaration of war against Japan.
Leaning heavily on the arm of his son James, a Marine captain, FDR walked haltingly into the House of Representatives at noon to request a declaration of war from the House and address the nation via radio. "Yesterday," the president proclaimed, "December 7, 1941-a date which will live in infamy-the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory."
Roosevelt's 10-minute speech, ending with an oath-"So help us God"-was greeted in the House by thunderous applause and stamping of feet. Within one hour, the president had his declaration of war, with only one dissenting vote, from a pacifist in the House, Jeanette Rankin representing Montana, the first woman elected to Congress . FDR signed the declaration at 4:10 p.m., wearing a black armband to symbolize mourning for those lost at Pearl Harbor.
On both coasts, civilian defense groups were mobilized.
In New York, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia ordered the rounding up of Japanese
nationals, who were transported to Ellis Island and held in custody indefinitely.
In California, antiaircraft batteries were set up on Long Beach and the
Hollywood Hills. Reports on supposed spy activity on the part of Japanese
Americans began pouring into Washington, even as Japanese Americans paid
for space in newspapers to declare unreservedly their loyalty to the United
States. The groundwork was being laid for the tragic internment of Japanese
Americans, thought a necessary caution at the time but regretted years
later as a hysterical and bigoted response.

Why Worries Really DO Come True
By Dr Jill Ammon-Wexler
Take a moment to imagine that each thought you think is a mental photograph.
Do we actually CREATE undesired conditions and events by simply worrying about them?
Take a moment to imagine that each thought you think is a mental photograph.
When the thought is first exposed to your brain, very little happens. But as you expose your mind to that thought again and again, the thought begins to develop and hold an image in your mind's eye, just just like an exposed photograph.
In fact, thoughts really ARE that powerful. Anything you focus on mentally DOES develop into a strong interconnected network of neurons. That network then holds that thought as an image. And your subconscious mind will then push you to take the actions that will bring that image into reality. This is not theory. It is based on the research findings of modern neuroscience.
You need to be careful about your thoughts, judgments, and viewpoints. If you focus your mind on something you DO NOT want, you actually strengthen the neural networks containing the image of that something.
That is why worrying about something actually
drives you closer to that something. Worry is actually a very powerful
form of negative goal setting.
--------------------------------------------
Worry is actually negative goal setting!
--------------------------------------------
The more you worry about something, the stronger
the neural networks containing your worries become. And the stronger those
physical networks, the more likely your subconscious mind will drive you
to take actions that actually push you toward what you are worried about.
The Part Played by Emotion
The more emotion accompanying your worries, the
stronger the neural network holding that worry will become. Emotion, whether
positive or negative, is a neural supercharger. This includes stress, which
is driven by emotion.
You are getting the picture of the negative cycle that worry creates. The more worries, the more stress. The more stress, the less creative and clear your mind becomes. And the less creative you become, the less likely you will EVER solve the problem you are worried about.
Plus the longer (and more passionately) you worry about something, the faster you are driven straight into the arms of what you are worried about.
A Proven Solution
There is one, and only one, solution to this.
You must step out of the stress/worry cycle, and direct your mental focus
elsewhere.
What you focus on grows. This is why it is so very important NOT to focus on your problems. You instead want to focus on creating positive solutions that create something you DO want.
Here is a proven-effective plan of action:
Convert your problems to goals,
Create a detailed goal-plan,
Break your goal-plan into the smallest possible
daily steps, then
Begin to take action, one step at a time.
And in the meantime:
1. Refuse to worry.
Remember, worry is a very powerful form of negative
goal setting.
2. Create a new mental image.
Create and hold a mental image of how life will
be when you reach your goal. The more emotion you pack into that positive
image, and the more often you put your mental focus on it, the stronger
the neural networks holding that image will become.
3. Bust your stress.
Unless you manage your stress, it will continue
to build negative neural networks. Do not kid yourself about stress. It
is at the core of many serious life-threatening bodily conditions, and
has a way of pretending not to be there. Brainwave training is the fastest
answer to instant stress reduction.
4. Build your self-confidence.
Take some steps to build your self confidence.
A huge medical study showed that low self confidence and negative thoughts
cause your brain to physically shrink as much as 20%. Self confidence is
not a lightweight issue, it places unrealistic limits on your entire life.
5. Take care of your physical self.
It can be easy to just take your mental and physical
health for granted until something happens. Add a walk and 20-minute workout
to your life, and you will start to produce more feel-good brain neuro-transmitters.
6. Grow your mind power.
Your brain truly follows the same rule as your
muscles. Use it, or lose it. And scientific evidence shows that your brain
is either growing, or physically shrinking

A distraught senior citizen phoned her doctor's office. "Is it true," she wanted to know, "that the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?" "Yes, I'm afraid so," the doctor told her.
There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, "I'm wondering, then, just how serious is my condition because this prescription is marked 'NO REFILLS'."

One day, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi were at a very fancy dinner party they had hosted. They were seated in full view of the rest of the people in attendance, and Luke, his table manners somewhat lacking, was devouring his bantha meat with his bare hands.
Obi-Wan, sensing that this display of savageness
was rather disturbing to their guests, leaned over to Luke, and
whispered:
"Use the fork, Luke!"

Gale-force winds and frigid temperatures had taken
their toll. Snapped electric wires were sparking and snaking about the
snowdrifts. As a foot patrolman, I was assigned to a desolate intersection
to provide security at the scene of a downed wire.
It was 12:40 a.m. and -19 degrees when I relieved
the initial guardian of this dangerous area. He pointed out the thin line
swinging ferociously from the main electric circuit, as he entered the
squad car for his return to warmth. I pulled my coat collar up to my earmuffs
and took up my position to protect the public.
Finally, at 5:40 a.m., a utility truck arrived. The linemen checked the wires, then, laughing, descended toward me.
"Well, Officer," one of them said, "congratulations. You've successfully guarded a frozen kite string all night."

A church was preparing for Christmas services. The pastor decided he wanted a banner made for the entryway and had a parishioner call the sign company. The parishioner told the man on the phone the message he wanted and the dimensions needed for the entryway.
The sign came back a few days later... "Unto Mary Jesus was born, six feet long and two feet wide."

Riddle
I have five letters.
If you take the first and last,
I will still be the same.
Even if you take the middle letter,
I will be the same as before.
Who am I?
