Get on the Level
Have you been having some trouble with your hard drive lately? Maybe you've been having so many problems that you're almost ready to just give up on it and go buy a new one. Well, before you do that, you might find this little tip interesting.
Some hard drives are very sensitive to surfaces that are not level. Wow, who knew?! Most have trouble functioning properly when they are placed on an uneven surface or at a slant. Get your level to make sure the surface it's on is completely flat. When you've got everything set back up, go ahead and restart your computer normally to see if the drive works any better than it did before. check both ways - "side-to-side" and "front-to-back."
Often times, this will help bring a doomed hard drive back to life. Keep in mind though that this trick will not work with every single hard drive. Yours might have problems beyond repair and you, of course, will have to look into those further. But, you can always give this a shot, just to see what happens!

First elected female senator
On this day in 1932, Ophelia Wyatt Caraway, a Democrat from Arkansas, becomes the first woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate. Caraway, born near Bakerville, Tennessee, had been appointed to the Senate two months earlier to fill the vacancy left by her late husband, Thaddeus Horatio Caraway. With the support of Huey Long, a powerful senator from Louisiana, Caraway was elected to the seat. In 1938, she was reelected. After failing to win renomination in 1944, she was appointed to the Federal Employees Compensation Commission by President Franklin Roosevelt.
Although she was the first freely elected female senator, Caraway was preceded in the Senate by Rebecca Latimer Felton, who was appointed in 1922 to fill a vacancy but never ran for election. Jeannette Rankin, elected to the House of Representatives as a pacifist from Montana in 1917, was the first woman to ever sit in Congress.

Run a S.W.O.T. Analysis on Your Blog
by Sarah Paine
Is there anything that could be improved on the blog your run? Do you even know if there is something that needs to be improved? Try taking the MBA stance by performing a S.W.O.T on the blog to get to what really needs adjustment? Now what the heck is S.W.O.T you say? All it is, is an acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Just about every Fortune 500 company you can think of performs this self check to see where they stand so why shouldn't you?
Commence the analysis by reading through your blog from top to bottom citing everything that works in your favor. Have your products been moving quickly? Have the blog entries been getting better each time you post? Are you receiving a satisfactory page rank from Google? After all is said and done, you should be feeling pretty good about what has been going on so far. If not then you may have some problems that can be adjusted as we move into the next phase of the S.W.O.T.
The next portion of the analysis is not nearly as fun however it is just as necessary as the first piece. What is the weakest link or aspect of the blog being reviewed? Do you notice the posts are fairly irregular or infrequent? Have you created any products in the last six months or so? Are your back links increasing or does this piece of the puzzle seem stagnant? As you ponder these things be certain to write each down just as you did in the first step. Remember the more thorough you are the better off you will be in the long haul so snap on those rubber gloves and get in there.
Ok enough with the painful review, it is time to move on to possible opportunities. If you look over the list of weaknesses it should be pretty simple to spot some room for growth. Do not limit yourself only to those items in the weakness portion. Take a look beyond and step outside of the box to get the best possible benefit here. Are there add-ons or improvements that could enhance some of your products? Is there a possibility to create a subscription service to create consistent income? Are you grabbing a large target audience to profit as much as possible? Are you implementing the most viable marketing options? Are you writing articles regularly? Continue to ask yourself questions as your brain storm to see what comes about.
The final portion is reviewing all possible threats. Is your blog lost in a sea of similar blogs? Is your email list becoming fatigued? Is the market you have selected becoming less profitable? Have you been having server problems that cost your site valuable time? Do you have back up plans when things go wrong? Consider every threat a hurdle that can be jumped to strengthen your business model. The more frequent you run this analysis the more profitable your blog will become. Get started now!

Astronomy Quiz
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
My daughter's 5th-grade class had been studying astronomy. One morning at breakfast she announced, "On Friday we're having a quiz on the moon."
That's when her little brother piped up, saying, "Are you gonna let her go, Mom?"
-----
Professor Stein was lecturing his physics class. "If molecules can be split into atoms and the atoms split into electrons, can the electrons be broken down any further?"
A pupil replied, "I'm not certain, but a sure way to find out would be to mail some of them in a package marked FRAGILE."
-----
Working as a computer instructor for an adult-education program at a community college, I am keenly aware of the gap in computer knowledge between my younger and older students.
My observations were confirmed the day a new student walked into our library area and glanced at the encyclopedia volumes stacked on a bookshelf.
"What are all these books?" he asked.
Somewhat surprised, I replied that they were encyclopedias.
"Really?" he said. "Someone printed out the whole thing?"
-----
During an attack of laryngitis I lost my voice completely for two days. To help me communicate with him, my husband devised a system of taps.
One tap meant, "Give me a kiss."
Two taps meant "Yes,"
Seven taps meant "No."
And 95 taps meant "Take out the garbage."
