Daylight saving time instituted
On this day in 1942, Congress pushes ahead standard time for the United States by one hour in each time zone, imposing daylight saving time--called at the time "war time."
Daylight saving time, suggested by President Roosevelt,
was imposed to conserve fuel, and could be traced back to World War I,
when Congress imposed one standard time on the United States to enable
the country to better utilize resources, following the European model.
The 1918 Standard Time Act was meant to be in effect for only seven months
of the year--and was discontinued nationally after the war. But individual
states continued to turn clocks ahead one hour in spring and back one hour
in fall. The World War II legislation imposed daylight saving time for
the entire nation for the entire year. It was repealed Sept. 30, 1945,
when individual states once again imposed their own "standard" time. It
was not until 1966 that Congress passed legislation setting a standard
time that permanently superceded local habits.
Trivia
The area of Greater Tokyo — meaning the city
proper, its port, Yokohama,
and the suburban prefectures of Saitama, Chiba,
and Kanagawa — contains less than 4 percent
of Japan’s land area but fully one-fourth
of its 123-plus million people.

Information Products for Dummies by Sarah Paine
Information product creation never seemed so easy until running across the Dummies book series in a local Barnes and Noble. The Dummies series is one of the most commonly sold book editions as it provides readers with knowledge on just about any subject matter. The concept of the book seems almost too simple, provide general knowledge on a wide variety of topics and reap a profit. Internet marketers often take for granted how much knowledge they have and just how many potential customers would love to access it.
When it comes to the internet you have to think that many people do not even know how to use their computers to begin with. I know it sounds crazy but flick on a tv and you will see the video professor dvd products designed to help the computer illiterate get online or type papers. The Dummies series has mastered this art in that it has honed down just about everything you would like to know and compressed the information in a user friendly book.
There is a way to top the Dummy line and that is to turn it into a DVD product. Videos can display precisely what would be required in order to complete a given procedure. So how can you use this concept to your benefit? Determine what it is that you know and create a video to aid someone that does not know about the particular topic. Would you be able to create a video on web hosting, article writing, boosting page rank, or setting up a blog? These are only a fraction of possibilities as there are many profitable markets like healthy living, weight loss, automotive repair the lists is endless.
The DVD could be marketed in a bricks and mortar establishment or online. It is entirely possible to set up a web page in a few hours in order to have your own store set up to market your own product. Video products can be created in just a few hours as well so why not take a look at what could be done today? My first product was created in roughly two hours, so can yours.
Get start today and you could have your own site and products tomorrow. If for some reason you have never run across the for Dummies series do a Google search and you will be amazed at how many topics come up. What does that mean to you? It means you have an endless array of possible product ideas. Good luck.

Votive Candles
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Visiting St Patrick's Cathedral on a tour of New York City , my daughter and her children were awed by the sight. The kids were especially curious about the votive candles, so my daughter asked if they'd each like to light one. She explained that is it customary to say a prayer of petition or thanks, and she was careful to tell them that these are not like birthday candles. "Do you have any questions?" she asked.
"No," said the five-year-old, "but if there's a pony outside, it's mine."

Two women were shopping. When they started to discuss their home lives, one said, "Seems like all we do is fight anymore. I've been so upset that I've lost 20 pounds."
"Why don't you just leave him?" asked the friend.
"Oh! Not yet," the first replied. "I'd like to lose at least another fifteen pounds first." ?"

But you do the same thing on an airplane, and

After eight days of backpacking, my wife and I were looking pretty scruffy. She came to breakfast in a baseball cap, her hair sticking out at odd angles.
She asked, "does my hair make me look like a water buffalo?"
I thought for a moment, then said, "If I tell you the truth, do you promise not to charge?"

"Cooking for the Empty Nest"
Recipe of the Week
2 cups plain yogurt
1 tablespoon ginger -- freshly grated
1 tablespoon garlic -- minced
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3 pounds chicken pieces
Vegetable oil
In a large bowl, combine the yogurt and next 9 ingredients. Mix well and set aside. Rinse the chicken pieces and pat dry. Using a sharp knife, make 1/2-inch-deep scores in the chicken meat at 1-inch intervals. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat well, working the marinade into the cuts. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or as long as 12 hours.
Lightly brush cooking grate with vegetable oil. Scrape most of the marinade from the chicken pieces. Grill them indirectly over medium heat, turning occasionally, until the meat is opaque throughout and the juices run clear.
Breasts will take about 45 minutes, while drumsticks will take about 1 hour.
