Friday Rant
Buy American – you hear this crap on TV all the time. So you take a casual look at well know brand products, looking at the countries of origin, and usually products manufactured in the US of A comes in a dismal last, or close too it.
I had a colleague of mine tell me that there were really only three things that were only available on American soil that were absolutely, undeniable American. 1. Prostitutes of any race, creed, religion or color. 2. Tattoo’s. 3 And now if the President has his way, Tattoo Removal at government cost. But this isn’t really what it’s all about.
China, India, etc. beat our prices hands down. But you know what? This story is going to affect every little thing we do or definitely does affect some others, perhaps even their job - MANY thanks to a good friend for bringing this to our attention.
I think this lady is on the right track, so let’s get behind her. I honestly don’t know how many households there are in the United States, but if these were the only things we bought, think of the impact.
This past weekend she was at Krogers. She needed a 60 watt light bulb and Bounce dryer sheets. She was in the aisle and right next to the GE brand she normally bought, there was an off brand labeled “Everyday Value.” Bulbs were checked and they were exactly the same except for two points. The GE Brand was made in Mexico and was the more expensive of the two. The Everyday Value Brand, which had exactly the same features as the GE bulb, was made in Cleveland, Ohio. So throw out the myth that some of the less expensive items are manufactured only on foreign soil.
She did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the “Bounce Free” she has been using for years and at almost half the price!
So, the challenge to you is to start reading the labels – you can read, right – you are smarter than a fifth grader – hopefully. Start passing this idea on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time. And I am sure there are many others, who will read the labels, check the quantity and check the price – you might be surprised.

Tip of the Day
Copy and Paste
Here's a neat little trick: Hold down the Control Key and Left-click.
If you are reading an email in Outlook Express it selects all the text so you can copy it. If you are surfing the web with Internet Explorer doing this will select the paragraph your cursor is in.
Try it in Word and it select the sentence you're in. In a folder you can use this combination to select multiple files individually. Or, hold down the shift key and highlight the whole thing, so you can select it.

"They Walk Among Us!"
While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?" When my brother explained that the sun rises in the east, and has for sometime, she shook her head and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff."
"They walk among us, and they breed."

A Little Humor for the Weekend
Nobel Prize
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
A man is driving down a country road, when he spots a farmer standing in the middle of a huge field of grass. He pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that the farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing.
The man gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the farmer and asks him, "Ah excuse me mister, but what are you doing?"
The farmer replies, "I'm trying to win a Nobel Prize."
"How?" asks the man, puzzled.
"Well, I heard they give the Nobel Prize . . .
to people who are out standing in their field."

Two buffalo were standing on the range when a passing tourist said, "Those are the mangiest, scroungiest, most moth-eaten miserable beasts I have ever seen."
One of the buffalo turned to the other and said,
"You know ... I think I just heard a discouraging word.

Victoria, Texas (pop.55,000) is a town about 80 miles west of Houston.
Local Hispanic leaders there, in opposition to pending Immigration Legislation, boycotted all Caucasian owned businesses in the Victoria area this past weekend as a demonstration of their economic impact on the community. The boycott was declared a success by the Hispanic community, noting that revenue in Caucasian owned businesses was down by 19%.
Business owners declared the boycott a success as well, pointing out that shoplifting was reduced by 77%, money orders sent out of the country were down by 97%, and the cost of daily clean-up and trash collection was down by 84%. Shoppers reported that they could actually hear English being spoken throughout the community for the first time in recent memory, and customers actually paid for purchases with real money, not government debit cards..."

A party was being held and the hostess was getting worried because there were too many people and not enough refreshments.
She was sure that not all of these people had been invited but didn't know how to tell which ones were the crashers. Then her husband got an idea.
He turned to the crowd of guests and said "Will everyone from the bride's side of the family stand up please?" About twenty people stood.
Then he asked " Will everyone from the groom's side of the family stand up as well?" About twenty five people stood up.
Then he smiled and said, 'Will everyone who stood, please leave. This is a BIRTHDAY PARTY."

Motivational Tip For The Day
by Jan Tincher
Do you feel frustrated, depressed, or restless?
Do you know why?
One reason might be that you have aptitudes that are not being used or properly expressed.
Learn what you are good at, and work at it. When you are good at something, you are not usually frustrated, depressed, or restless in those areas.
If you still find yourself frustrated, depressed, or restless, find something else to be good at. Keep learning, keep trying, keep living, because after all, frustration, depression, and restlessness are just expressions. Don't express the expressions that don't get you where you want to go. Express yourself in ways that help you enjoy life!
An article that will help is I Don't Like Depression.
It's
So . . . So . . . Depressing!
