A Message from Bob

Friday Rant - Town Hall Meetings

I have been watching the Town Hall Meetings being held around the country, and am seeing some very angry Americans. While these meetings are supposed to be addressing the National Health Plan, people are venting on other issues as well. They are angry about the “Takeovers,” the “Bailouts,” the “Cap and Trade Bill,” which will skyrocket utility costs. The are angry about having their neighbors “snitch” on them in the guise of reporting “disinformation” to the White House at flag@whitehouse.gov – they are angry about the out-of-control spending that is going on.

Each party is trying to blame the other for stacking the audience with their supporters, and I do imagine a bit of this is going on, on both sides. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer claim that “drowning out the facts” is how this country has failed many times at overhauling health care, and describe the protests as an “ugly campaign” that misrepresents reform and disrupts the discussion.

I have tried to balance my viewing based on the ideology of the TV stations reporting the information and balance my time between MSNBC and Fox trying to get the liberal spin from the left, and the conservative spin from the right. And you know what – with very few exceptions – I find they are both reporting about the same information, each with its own spin of course.

The majority of the Town Hall Meetings, are actually beating up on the candidates, regardless of party affiliation, and have been loud and rather raucous. While they tried to keep them under control, it was obvious that they were not scripted, with people asking questions that the politician were not prepared to answer.

Enter Obama at Tuesday’s Town Hall Meeting in New Hampshire about his health plan. I didn’t watch it very long, bluntly because I’m tired of hearing his lines which are getting pretty old – sort of like a catchy commercial you see over, and over, and over to the point of  rejection. But I did catch one part where a person who had a question and read it off a piece of paper. It wasn’t that long a question and could have easily been said if the person really believed what they were saying. Or was the questionnaire a “plant” making sure that they got the question exactly right. Did Obama read the answer to this “impromptu” question from his teleprompters? In my judgment it sure looked that way.  A later viewing of the “Meeting” did show the two teleprompters were there.

My question is simple – was the whole thing done that way. Is he already running for office for the 2012 elections? Like the movie “Network” in 1976 with everyone screaming "I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going to Take This Anymore", in my estimation, he really should pay attention to what is happening in the unscripted world.

No matter which element of current national political discourse you may look at — be it health care, global warming, the economy and jobs, or many others, for the first time in my judgment, the American people are really scared. What are they afraid of – their elected representatives and the size and control of the government, and their takeover of the private economy.

The Government is also scared that the American people aren’t compliantly accepting, like European sheep, a government takeover of a huge portion of the private economy. Americans proved it 233 years ago, and we’re ready to prove it again: we will not roll over for illegal mob rule from Washington D.C., disrespect for the U.S. Constitution, and we’ve had it with their disrespect for us, our freedom, and our pocketbook.

Change Account Names

Every once in awhile, you may wish to change the account name that is displayed, when you send email. In Outlook Express, go to Tools, Accounts. There you will see a list of all the OE accounts you have on your computer. Highlight the name you want to change and then click on the Properties button. A new dialogue box will then open and you can type in the name change. You'll want to do that in the very first box you see, as well as, under the User Information section. You'll also want to change the e-mail address to fit the one the new person uses. Just delete the old information out and type in the new. It's that easy! When you're all finished, click OK and then Close. So, from now on, all your accounts will be updated with the right information and all your e-mails will be correct again.

A Little Humor for the Weekend

Dream
=-=-=-=

After she woke up, a woman told her husband, "I just dreamt that you gave me a diamond necklace for my birthday. What do you think it means?"

"You'll know on your birthday." he said.

On her birthday, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it - to find a book entitled... "The Meaning Of Dreams."

-----

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, fishing, always something more important to me.

Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point.

When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a few minutes. When I came out again I handed her a toothbrush.

"When you finish cutting the grass," I said, "you might as well sweep the sidewalk."

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

-----

During a road trip I stopped in a small town to grab a bite to eat. I walked into a local pizza place and the first thing I noticed was a sign on the wall advising: "Price. Quality. Service. Pick Any Two."

-----

"What happened?" asked the hospital visitor to the heavily bandaged man sitting up in bed.

"Well, I went down to Six Flags over the weekend and decided to take a ride on the roller coaster. As we came up to the top of the highest loop, I noticed a little sign by the side of the track. I tried to read it but it was very small and I couldn't make it out. I was so curious that I decided to go round again, but we went by so quickly that I couldn't see what the sign said. By now, I was determined to read that sign so I went round a third time. As we reached the top, I stood up in the car to get a better view."

"And did you manage to see what the sign said this time?" asked the visitor.

"Yes."

"What did it say?"

"Don't stand up in the car!"

Motivational Tip For The Day
by Jan Tincher

There are many ways to put courage in action.

One way to put courage in action is to plan and prepare thoroughly in advance. Set clear goals or objectives, then gather information. Read and research in your chosen field. Write out detailed plans of action and take the first step.

It takes a lot of courage, sometimes, to take the first step. If you've prepared for it, you're halfway there.
