Put Ads On Your Site

If you're getting a good amount of traffic to your web site, it may be time to sell banner space.

Ad networks which place banners on your site and pay you a commission work on CPM (cost per thousand visitors). A good place to get started is TheAdStop.com. They have a hand picked list of top ad networks you can check out.

Banner rates are about $35 per thousand impressions (an impression is when a visitor sees the banner), but most sites are highly negotiable and will take less. Ad networks can also pay per click with ranges from a nickel to twenty cents per click.

Before you can put banners on your site, you need to know what kind of traffic you're getting. Your web host may have a stats package you can check. Most experts I talked with suggested going for WebTrendsLive.com Their renowned stats program is now online with a basic free version.

Stats packages like WebTrends show your web site traffic from every possible angle: unique visitors, time spent on pages, sales per page, etc. In the end, the added details of how people use your site could boost your product and service sales so much that banner income will merely be an afterthought.

Thinking of buying headphones? These items have come a long way from the monstrous, corded attachments that used to sit on our ears. Nowadays they vary from tiny little buttons that insert in our ears to larger but still lightweight padded earphones that are adjustable for the size of your head. Headphones make our lives safer and easier when we speak on the cellular phone. You can purchase headphones, or headsets, that adapt to any cell phone and allow you to speak with your hands free while driving, walking, or doing any other activity.

If you buy a digital piano for your home, you can get headphones that go with it. This add-on feature is great because you can play your piano any time of day or night without disturbing anyone. The only sound your household may hear is the tapping of your fingers on the keyboards! Another home convenience is the stereo/mono transmitter for and matching headphones for your television. The headphones allow you to make sensitive adjustments with the volume, and also adjust the sound levels automatically reducing the volume during louder commercials and increasing it during soft dialogue.

Headphones have undergone great development and refinement to suit consumer needs.  Now you have headphones that have multiple adjustments to even enjoy the feeling of listening to a concert in the privacy of your study.  They offer you options such as shutting off back ground or music so that you can choose to either talk or listen to music.  They can even filter sound to the extent that you can go into deep meditation without any disturbance.  Headphones are a great blessing especially when you travel long distances on an airplane.

The convenience of headphones has manifested itself in their miniaturization.  Since they can be folded and can be put away in small pouches, they can easily be carried in a purse, a briefcase or a back-pack.

Musicians however continue to use larger headphones and have benefited from the cordless technology that provides convenience.  They can also be used on computers to enhance your multi-media experience.  The call center industry in particular has benefited from the progress in headphones.  These now allow people who have to be available on the phone all day long, to be hands free and continue with other tasks.

A Little Humor

Golf Buddies

Two friends were playing golf and one commented he was going to Dr. Brown to get some dentures made.

"I did that two years ago, " his buddy said.

"How do you like your new teeth? Did Dr. Brown do a good job for you?"

"Let me tell you how much I like them. I was golfing the other day, a golfer hooked his tee shot on the adjacent hole, his ball took off and was going about 600 miles an hour when it hit me right in the groin!

 That's the first time in two years my teeth didn't hurt me."

A foursome of senior golfers hit the course with waning enthusiasm for the sport. "These hills are getting steeper as the years go by," one complained.

"These fairways seem to be getting longer too," said one of the others.

"The sand traps seem to be bigger than I remember them too," said the third senior.

After hearing enough from his Senior buddies, the oldest, and the wisest of the four of them at 87 years old, piped up and said, "Just be thankful we're still on the right side of the grass!"

A golfer, who was known for his bad temper, walked into the Pro Shop one day and plunked down big bucks for a new set of woods.

The staff all watched to see what would happen after he used them for the first time - more than half expecting he'd come in and demand his money back.

But the next time he came in, he was all smiles.

"They're the best clubs I've ever had," he said. "In fact, I've discovered I can throw them at least 40 yards farther than I could my last ones."

Harmful Medications Used To Treat Heart Failure

Digoxin (Lanoxin), digitoxin (Crystodigin): Cardiac glycosides, which increase the strength and regularity of the heart’s pumping action. These are heavy-duty drugs that interact with many others and can cause a long list of side effects, including apathy, confusion, delirium, hallucinations, depression, seizures, heartbeat irregularities (which they are also given to treat!), visual disturbances, intestinal hemorrhage, blood clotting disorders, rash, and weakness.

Dobutamine (Dobutrex), dopamine (Inotropin): These drugs are beta-adrenergic agonists—basically, stimulants that mimic the action of adrenaline, increasing the heart’s pumping strength. They are usually only used short-term, and can cause side effects such as anxiety, headache, hypertension, palpitations, heartbeat irregularities, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and leg cramps.

Amrinone (Inocor): This drug is used short-term in patients who don’t respond to other inotropic (heart-muscle-strengthening) agents. It is extremely expensive and can cause a lot of dangerous side effects, so it is used only as a last resort.

Enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril, captopril: These are angiotensin antagonists, otherwise known as ACE inhibitors. They counteract the retention of fluid by the kidneys, lowering blood pressure in the process. ACE inhibitors interact with a long list of drugs and can cause a wide range of side effects, including anxiety, fatigue, heart pain, low blood pressure, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, decreased libido, impotence, life-threatening blood disorders (agranulocytosis, neutropenia), muscle and joint pain, asthma/cough, sinusitis, and skin rash.

Losartan (Cozaar), irbesartan (Avapro): Also antihypertensive; work in similar fashion to the ACE inhibitors.

Other diuretics: To reduce fluid retention, physicians may prescribe thiazide diuretics (chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide), loop diuretics (furosemide), aldosterone antagonists (spironolactone), or potassium-sparing diuretics (triamterene, amiloride).
