Promote Your Site Offline

This is a great time to advertise your web site with offline media. Run a small display ad or classified ad on a consistent basis in your local paper. Go nationwide and repeat your ad in cities rich with the kids of people who would buy from you.

Look for good deals on television ads in smaller towns, in morning newscasts, and on cable. Radio can also give you great deals on somewhat targeted audiences.

For both radio and TV, it helps if your URL is short and easy to remember. Repeat it several times in the commercial, especially at the end. Give the listener or viewer a god reason to look your site up NOW before they forget the URL.

If your marketing activity doesn't include postcards, you're overlooking a highly effective and very low-cost sales tool. Here are 12 of the many reasons postcards should be part of your marketing program...

1. Postcards Work for Any Business

Postcards can produce all kinds of sales activity for all types of businesses. For example, they can produce web site traffic for online marketers, floor traffic for retail stores, sales leads for direct marketers ...and just about any other type of sales activity a business wants.

2. Designing Postcards is Simple and Uncomplicated

Designing an effective postcard is not complicated. It can be as simple as printing your best small ad on a 4 x 6 card and sending it to a list of potential prospects. Postcards usually work best when the message is brief and the postcard looks at first glance like a message from friend.

Morning Sickness

The neighbor dropped in on a friend and found her sitting at the kitchen table, staring blankly at a half- empty cup of coffee; her three kids squabbling loudly in the other room.

Marge told her that she had "morning sickness."

"No," he replies. "That was lust. And just last year I met a woman aboard a cruise ship to the Caribbean. She was smart, funny, and a great conversationalist. And everywhere I followed her on that boat, I would get this strange sensation in the pit of my stomach."

"Was that not love?" his friend asks.

"No," he replies. "That was motion sickness."

A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office for his checkup. Afterwards, the doctor took his wife aside and said, "Unless you do the following things, your husband will surely die." The doctor then went on to say, "Here's what you need to do. Every morning make sure you serve him a good healthy breakfast. Meet him at home each day for lunch so that you can serve him a well balanced meal. Make sure that you feed him a good hot meal each evening and don't overburden him with any stressful conversation, nor ask him to perform any household chores. Also, keep the house spotless and clean so that he doesn't get exposed to any threatening germs."

On the way home, the husband asked his wife what the doctor said.

She replied, "He said that you're going to die."

Health Tip of the Week

Shampooing Basics

For most of us, the day begins with a hot shower that includes washing our hair with a favorite shampoo and conditioner. I'm sure most of you don't give much thought to shampooing and conditioning your hair, and with all of the misconceptions surrounding the subject, you may be a little unsure about how to properly care for your hair. While various types of hair require different levels of attention, you should always use organic hair care products as the foundation of your hair care regimen. Organic shampoos and conditioners are free of harsh chemicals and detergents which will benefit all types of hair, leaving it feeling clean and healthy.

First let's address the question about how frequently you should shampoo and condition your hair. While some believe it is best to wash it everyday, others believe that washing your hair too frequently is damaging. The type of hair that you have is the determining factor to this question. Those with straight hair are safe to wash and condition everyday for a lively look, while those with curly hair should do so every other day to avoid those "frizzy" hair days.

Now let's get down to some hair care tips which you can begin to use today:

Shampooing Basics

1. Drench your hair with warm or cool water. Try and stay away from really hot water because it has a drying effect on your hair and scalp.

2. Squeeze about a quarter size drop of shampoo into your palm and rub your hands together.

3. Rub shampoo onto your scalp and through your hair with the tips of your fingers.

4. Gently massage your scalp to distribute shampoo throughout your head.

5. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. (You can rinse and repeat if you want to, especially if you have an oily scalp.)

Conditioning Basics

1. After you have rinsed all the shampoo from your hair, put a quarter size drop of conditioner into your palm and rub your hands together.

2. Apply conditioner to your scalp and through your hair all the way down to the ends. It is especially helpful to massage conditioner into your scalp if your scalp is dry.

3. Comb the conditioner through so it evenly covers your hair and then leave it on for two minutes (longer if your hair is really damaged) so it helps to smooth the cuticle.

4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water so your hair feels clean throughout.

And there you have it! The proper way to care for your hair. Be sure to read your hair care product labels and stay away from all of those harmful ingredients ("untouchables").
