The Italian Golfer

An 80-year old Italian man goes to the doctor for A check-up. The doctor is amazed at what good shape the guy is in and asks, "How do you stay in such great physical condition?"

"I'm Italian and I am a golfer," says the old guy, "and that's why I'm in such good shape. I'm up well before daylight and out golfing up and down the fairways... Have a glass of vino, and all is well !"

"Well," says the doctor, "I'm sure that helps, but there's got to be more to it. How old was your Dad when he died?" "Who said my Dad's dead?" The doctor is amazed. "You mean you're 80 years Old and your Dad's still alive. How old is he?"

"He's 100 years old," says the old Italian golfer. "In fact he golfed with me this morning, and then we went to the topless Beach for a walk, that's why he's still alive ... he's Italian and he's a golfer too."

"Well," the doctor says, "that's great, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. How about your Dad's Dad? How old was He when he died?" "Who said my grandpa's dead? He's still A-kickin'." Stunned, the doctor asks, "You mean you're 80 Years old and your grandfather's still living! Incredible, how old is he?" "He's 118 years old," says the old Italian golfer.

The doctor is getting frustrated at this point, "So, I guess he went Golfing with you this morning too?" "No. Grandpa couldn't go this morning, because he's getting married today." At this point the doctor is close to losing it.

"Getting married! Wow! Why would a 118-year-old Guy want to get married?"

"Who said he wanted to?"

Why does the Christmas Tree have an Angel on top?

On Christmas Eve Santa Claus was getting ready for his annual trip. As hepulled his favorite pair of red pants on, they ripped. So, he had to take them off and put on another pair, which were a bit too tight.

He then went to check on the rest of the preparations. The elves were on strike. The reindeer had shin-splints. At this point, Santa was BUMMED.He went into the kitchen to take a calming drink, and the bottle wasEMPTY.

Now he was really mad. All of sudden, there was a knock at the door. Santa, in his angry state, ignored it. There was another knock. Santa was in no mood for all of this.  When the knock came again, Santa--filled with rage--threw open the door.

Standing there was a little angel who said, "Hi Santa! What do you want me to do with this Christmas Tree?"

It was Christmas and the judge was in a merry mood as he asked the prisoner, "What are you charged with?"

"Doing my Christmas shopping early," replied the defendant.

"That's no offense," said the judge. "How early were you doing this shopping?"

"Before the store opened," countered the prisoner.

“Attachment Parenting” And Good Nutrition For Smarter, More Secure Kids

Despite the recent boom in sales of flash cards, music classes, videos, TV shows, language courses, and other nonsense for the very, very young, stimulation (in this context) comes from experiencing the world and through interaction with the parents and other important adults. Taking a walk in Mom’s arms and seeing the trees and the sky is all the stimulation a baby needs—she doesn’t have to start learning the alphabet at three months of age! This is the logic behind a parenting “method” called attachment parenting, which dictates that a baby should be held and carried virtually all the time until it can sit, crawl, stand, and then walk on its own. Baby slings and other carriers are available today that enable Mom or Dad to have both hands free as baby moves, sees, hears, and experiences everything right along with her or him!

When added to this kind of early childhood stimulation, and being allowed to explore and learn freely as the years pass, a highly nutritious diet sets the stage for optimal brain function in children. Breastfeeding for at least a year is the first big step to a lifetime of good nutrition: extended, exclusive breastfeeding is linked with lower risk of obesity, higher IQ, and better health overall. Once solid food enters the picture, children especially need plenty of B vitamins from natural foods, lots of high-quality protein, multivitamin supplements, and DHA from fish oil.

The more neural connections a child maintains and builds throughout childhood and into adulthood, the better chances he or she will have of having excellent brain function into middle age and later years. It’s just like bones or muscles: the more you start out with, the more you can lose without impairing function, ability, or overall health.
